Monitoring & Control

In addition to employees viewing their desired vs. actual temperature profiles & histories at a glance, we provide continuous system wide Monitoring & Control to corporate Facilities Groups.

For the first time, Facilities can monitor temperatures, humidity and airflow throughout all corporate buildings anywhere in the world. Conditions that could previously be monitored only occasionally with extra effort, are now collected continuously. Even some legacy equipment is monitored, such as duty-cycles of Air Handlers, VAV units, Humidifiers, etc., and temperature data across heat exchangers. This can help verify continuous operation, maximize equipment life with most efficient opperation, and predict failures and minimize repair costs*.

Real-time email alerts and even automatic system shut down systems at user defined conditions is possible for older legacy equipment, as well as new Ols Controls capabilities. There is no additional charge for all Monitoring & Control capabilities:

Monitoring**

  • Monitor any User/Employee's desired temperature profile, actual current temperature, and temperature history
  • View reports for system-wide temperature performance (absolute and root-mean-square errors) for all rooms
  • View reports for individual and system-wide energy savings for all individual offices and all communal areas
    - for every office and area, accurately calculate (how many minutes) x (how many degrees under baseline temp)
    - Individual Users can keep track how much energy they are saving individually
    - System-wide, keeps track of monthly cost savings vs. monthly cost
    - System-wide, keeps track of energy savings, to be publicized as a Corporate Good Neighbor
  • Actively monitor, or view histories of duty-cycles of current Air Handlers, VAVs, and other HVAC equipment
    - high usuage can indicate failure modes and wasted energy (e.g., refrigerant loss, compression loss, duct leakage)
    - predict failure rates, and help size units for future purchases (light duty cycle means smaller unit needed)
  • View report for number of dampers open vs. time of day
  • View report for percentage of dampers open (open, partially open, and closed) vs. time of day
  • Enable after hours & weekend HVAC for those working overtime. Ols Controls can be a 3rd party to account for additional HVAC hours and the amount of HVAC used, so Tenants can pay for only the HVAC they use: a win-win-win deal between Employees, Tenants and Landlords

Control**

  • Set temperature profile for common areas (hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, etc.)
  • Set minimum and maximum allowable temperature setpoints for all Users
    - system wide for all offices and areas
    - area-specific limits (e.g., lower max temp in computer rooms & break rooms)
  • Set earliest and latest possible HVAC used (either with, or without specific override request that day)
  • Ability to override areas or entire company
    - scheduled vacation days, PTO/sick days, travel days, company holidays, etc.
    - areas unused every day (part of a cubefarm, or unused offices)
    - areas unused parts of days (scheduled conference rooms vs. those in the meeting, sales personnel)
    - system wide for all offices and areas

* e.g., high duty cycles of Air Handlers can indicate loss of refrigerant, excessive wear, and/or early failure
** All Individual Monitoring & Control and Centralized Monitoring & Control capabilities for Temperature Control can be provided for Humidy control and for Fresh-Air control at no additional cost, if a Customer wishes
